Helen McCarthy
CounsellorAbout Me
I have 25 years of experience working with adults experiencing mental health problems.
Since obtaining my doctorate in the psychology of eating disorders from Oxford University in 1986 I have been interested in helping people with problems relating to eating and body image.
With increasing numbers of people asking me for help with weight loss, I developed "Positively Hungry", an approach to permanent weight loss which involves stepwise lifestyle changes. This radical alternative to dieting helps people overcome internal blocks to losing weight using traditional and cutting edge psychological techniques. This approach is available for anyone who wants to lose weight without dieting.
In addition to using cognitive behavioural therapy I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
