Dr Chintha Dissanayake
PsychologistAbout Me
I believe that every person who works with me is different; so what works for one person might not work for another. I choose the right approach for the individual and develop a plan that provides all round support that is unique to them.
With over 30 years of national and international experience in Psychology across a wide range of sectors such as schools, industry, banking, biotech, charities, prisons, and leisure, I bring the science and art of Psychology to you to solve everyday problems. My goal is to assist you in making better decisions and manage your life in a manner that aligns with your individual situation, needs, and overall well-being.
As a qualified Chartered Occupational & Coaching Psychologist, I am dedicated to supporting and guiding individuals or groups in achieving their personal or professional goals. By leveraging psychological principles, theories, and techniques, I will help you overcome challenges and develop your skills and strengths.
My approach is collaborative: working with you to identify your goals and aspirations, assess your strengths and areas for improvement, and create strategies and action plans to find solutions to your challenges. I incorporate assessments, exercises, and other tools, including psychometrics, to foster self-awareness, build resilience, and enhance your emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills and well-being.
Rather than dwelling on past problems or issues, my focus is on the present and future. Together, we will explore new perspectives, develop new habits and behaviours, and overcome obstacles that may hinder your progress. Throughout our collaboration, I am committed to providing support, motivation, and accountability to keep you on track towards achieving your goals. My purpose is to empower and assist you in your personal and professional growth, utilising psychological principles and techniques to help you reach your full potential.
When weather permits, I also offer the option of engaging in outdoor sessions in the Oxfordshire countryside, harnessing the healing strengths of nature. I have found that walking in nature helps us find our rhythm, clear our thoughts, and enhance our problem-solving abilities. So, in the Spring & Summer, if we meet in person, don't forget to bring your walking boots!
Testimonials
"I have worked with Chintha as my coach for over five years now. She is BRILLIANT. I know that I could not be doing what I am doing today without her support and guidance. Chintha takes time out, over and beyond, to really take an interest in the individual as a whole and digging deep into what motivates us and how we can improve. Chintha helped me with interview techniques, dealing with challenging management situations, provided guidance on my career progression and helped me become a better leader who can properly bring out the best in others by knowing my own strengths and areas for development.
She is fantastic and I look forward to working with her in the years to come." (Fouzia, Diplomatic Services, 2023)
"Chintha is a brilliant coach. She possesses a rare combination of being cerebral, human and academic in her approach. Chintha was a great help in my career journey" (Yazir, Director, DE, 2020)
"I count myself very fortunate to have discovered Chintha at a stage when I was in need of expert guidance, and that is exactly what I received, wrapped up in plenty of encouragement and support, patience and realism. On several occasions Chintha has helped me to identify alternative directions that have turned out to be just the right way to go forward. I would recommend her to anyone who is struggling with a decision." (Alison, Senior Legal Associate, 2018)
