About Me

PSYCHOTHERAPIST AND FINANCIAL THERAPIST

Have you been feeling stuck and would like to see a change in your life? Are you having relationship difficulties? Do you find yourself overwhelmed by anxiety?

There are many different reasons that bring people to counselling or therapy. Essentially, people come to therapy with questions and together we look for the answers through a relationship that is confidential and non-judgemental.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I guide you towards a deeper understanding of yourself, what you are struggling with and help you find a way to change and live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. Based in the psychoanalytic tradition, this kind of psychotherapy looks at how the problem you are facing today is linked to your past experiences; it explores what unconscious processes lay behind your present challenges and helps you understand and overcome it.

I have lived in nine different countries across three continents, obtained dual American and British training and worked in both the private and public sectors, including the NHS. This experience has enriched me with exposure to a wide range of cultures and challenges.

My experience also reflects a diverse client base. I have worked with people from the financial services, public sector, and creative professions. I have helped clients struggling with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, self-esteem, relationship and sexual difficulties, depression, bereavement, trauma, self-harm and eating disorders.

Training and qualifications

My training began in 1999 with a BA in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. In the United States, a psychology degree encompasses a generalist training that equips the psychologist to assist a wide range of people. The training is a rigorous programme that combines academic coursework and supervised clinical experience with an aim to train them to assist people with varying mental health challenges.

Since then, I have completed two qualifications at Master’s level, a UK-based counselling training and a four-year postgraduate specialisation in psychodynamic psychotherapy at WPF Therapy, which is grounded in the psychoanalytic approach. Obtaining these qualifications has involved years of therapy, of supervised clinical practice and working with a range of psychological difficulties.
