Sharon Kirby
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
Over many years I have gained extensive experience and completed numerous professional trainings enabling me to work creatively and compassionately with a wide range of issues. I have a particular interest in relationships as they are central to our wellbeing and happiness, whether they be relationships with partners, children, wider family, friends or colleagues.
My aim is to develop a supportive and collaborative relationship with clients, a safe space in which concerns and experiences may be explored and unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving identified, opening up possibilities for moving forward.
I bring a warm, flexible and creative approach to my work with individuals and couples and the belief that we all have the potential to grow and flourish, within ourselves and in our relationships with others. As human beings we will also struggle, at times, to make sense of our experiences, past and present; in the counselling/therapeutic process, we focus on both the struggles and the potential.
Underpinning and informing my way of working is an understanding and practical application of psychological insights drawn from attachment, psychodynamic, systems and mindfulness based approaches. This integrative way of working supports clients in developing awareness, emotional flexibility and resilience; bringing mind and body together, harnessing the body/brain's intuitive ability to restore a sense of balance.
