Robert Ashby
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
I am Robbie Ashby, an integrative counsellor committed to tailoring my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each client. Drawing from a variety of therapeutic models, I craft personalised sessions that address the individual challenges and aspirations of those I support. My model of therapy draws primarily on psychodynamic and person-centred theory, focusing on the therapeutic relationship as we work together. I also have knowledge of CBT, which I often use in my work with the NHS.
My focus is on identifying the underlying triggers for emotional distress, including anxiety, anger, and feelings of shame or guilt, and I employ a range of techniques to address these issues effectively. I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties from many different backgrounds, where everyone’s story for coming to therapy is different
I offer both long-term and short-term individual therapy, with the length of therapy generally being something we would discuss in our first session. In the case of longer-term therapy, we would frequently review progress as the therapy continues to consider what work remains and when it might be appropriate to conclude.

Training and qualifications
I have completed a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, which has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic approaches, including integrative and person-centred techniques. This training involved extensive coursework, practical sessions, and supervised placements, ensuring I am well-prepared to offer effective and compassionate support.
My professional experience includes working with Choose Therapy, an online counselling platform where I honed my skills in providing remote therapy to a diverse clientele. I am currently contributing my expertise to the NHS Talking Therapies in Sutton, where I work with clients facing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and grief.
These roles, combined with my training, have given me valuable insights into the unique needs of each client, allowing me to tailor my approach to provide the most effective care. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and continuing my professional development.
