About Me

Hi, as with most of us, you are most likely striving to be the best that you can be, but your environment and circumstances may not be helping and perhaps even hindering you in your daily life. For example, you may be trying hard to create healthy supportive relationships, or supporting ill or elderly loved ones, or thinking about your financial status, employment situation, while also trying to fulfil your own ambitions and dreams, and nothing seems to be going your way. This can become a tangled web that forces us to hide true thoughts and feelings from others and ourselves.

Through therapy we can explore the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that support you in your life and the things that do not work for you, unravelling the tangled threads of your life into a coherent story that you can use to inform your future decisions and plans. Our healing therapeutic professional relationship becomes a model on how you can draw positive relationships towards you in your life outside the therapy space.

I work with men, women and young people speaking in English and / or  Punjabi, and I work with clients across different cultures, communities, races, religions and sexuality.

I currently work online and I offer a safe, caring and confidential space for you to come and explore present or past experiences that may be causing anxiety, unwanted thoughts, behaviours and emotions.

I offer short term focussed therapy and/or long term in depth psychotherapy, depending on your needs. You may get in touch with me via e-mail or phone to arrange an initial session in which we can discuss your needs, and to see if I am the right person to support you through your journey of self exploration.  I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, and I later trained at the Metanoia Institute and have a Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and hold their Diploma of Clinical Practice. This means that I have combined psychodynamic, humanistic and relational therapies to give me a carefully constructed ‘toolkit’ with which we can co-create a specific therapy tailored to your personal requirements. I believe that we are all unique individuals and as such, we each need a personalised approach. I have further training in elements of cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, and using visualisation and breathing techniques. I am also an EMDR therapist having trained with the Europe Accredited Training.

I work with a wide range of issues including relationships, grief, trauma, stress, domestic violence, depression, suicidal thoughts, self harm, cultural identity crisis, work related issues, and many others. I am also experienced in strategies to help people cope with stress, panic, anxiety or trauma.

I have specialist training in domestic violence, understanding how difficult it is to actually leave, and then to move on, even years after leaving the abusive environment. In previous work I have carried out assessments and facilitated workshops for a domestic violence organisation. I have held clinical group therapy and seen DV clients on a one to one basis for psychotherapy.

My other work experiences have been in the NHS, MIND, Womans Trust and Place 2Be. I have worked in my local community to support people with mental health issues access mental health services. I addressed and informed GP’s and community members awareness around faith issues, employment, financial impact, gender issues and ethnicity contributing towards manifestation and understandings of mental health experiences.

If you decide to come to therapy with me, you will be the one setting the agenda, pace and topic of discussion. I work with an understanding that you are the expert of your life, and my job is to support you on your journey to grow your confidence and trust in yourself, creating a safe space in which you can feel vulnerable and still be able to speak about your distress.

Our initial meeting will be to see if we ‘click’ on a personal level, as this is important for the therapeutic relationship to succeed. Together we can explore if you can gain some benefit from working with me; and equally I can share my sense of whether I am the best person to support you at this time, and if not, suggest alternative options.

If you choose to come to therapy with me, we will be working together in collaboration, in which you are the expert of your life, setting the agenda, pace and topic of discussion. My role will be to provide you with a safe and caring space and the necessary interventions that will support you to continue your exploratory journey. I will be by your side as you make difficult discoveries, choices and decisions during the therapy.
