Louise Leighton
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
Welcome to my profile, firstly I want to say that I understand how daunting the process of finding a Counsellor can be, I would like to reassure you that should you choose me as your counsellor I will provide a non-judgemental, safe, secure and confidential space for you to share what has brought you to seek a Counsellor.
I am a qualified Humanistic counsellor and my core approach is person-centred, I am a member of BACP and NCS, I work in a non-directive way, which means I am led by the client and will support you on your therapeutic journey. Working together I would support you in facing your concerns to equip you with the skills and resilience for your future.
Person-centred counselling is not about advice giving or me being the ‘expert’ it is about the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor and the trust that we will build.
I believe every individual is unique, therefore I offer a 20-minute free initial meeting so that we can meet and decide if we can work together. This initial meeting allows you to see if you would like me as your therapist and it allows me to learn about you and what has brought you to counselling.
I work with individuals in a variety of areas, such as relationship issues, family problems, depression, bereavement and many more. If you don't see your issue listed in the lower section feel free to contact me and we can discuss your personal situation.
I offer 60 minute sessions, usually on a weekly basis, 90 and 120 minute sessions can be arranged (depending on the individuals personal circumstances). I also offer concessions to individuals on a lower income and for students, please contact for further information.
I also offer counselling to individuals that can’t travel to my counselling practice, if you would like to know more about this please get in touch.
I offer concessions to individuals on a lower income and for students, please contact for further information.
I gained my Therapeutic Counselling Diploma in York and have volunteered in Leeds for a charity as a Counsellor before setting up my own private practice.
I have completed various courses in many subjects/areas and I continuously work on updating my knowledge by attending BACP’s courses and also completing CPD courses.
If you feel you would like to make an appointment for a free initial meeting, then please contact me, you can always visit my website for further information.
