Joanne Freeman
Integrative counsellorAbout Me
Hello, I'm Joanne, I'm trained as a trauma informed therapist and integrate different types of therapy to help you, which makes my counselling bespoke to you as, in my opinion, one size does not fit all.
My counselling service can help you to overcome issues including depression, trauma, anxiety, burnout, PTSD and panic attacks; of which I have a special interest in, having suffered with these conditions myself. I've seen many clients significantly recover using science based techniques that you will learn through the counselling process. When you're choosing a counsellor, as well as experience and qualifications, it's very important that you find someone who you have a connection with. Research proves that the client/counsellor relationship is as important if not, more so, than qualifications and training. You are far more likely to progress and recover and have the motivation to do the therapy work if you connect with them. I can assure you that I'll do my best to help you feel at ease at your first appointment and it is something I pride myself on, of which you will see feedback I have received from clients, on my website.
As well as my private counselling practice, I work freelance for a wellness company, delivering mental health workshops and talks covering many different topics. I deliver these sessions in companies and locally to groups. Historically, I worked for the NHS for 5 years as a Health Improvement Practitioner, running groups for weight loss and behaviour change and 8 years as a family support practitioner for Barnardo's Children's Services.
Counselling can be a game-changer for you, as it was for me. You'll learn things about yourself and others that you may never discover anywhere else. It inspired me to train and qualify as a therapist. It took many years to accomplish, but well worth it. I'm sure it'll be worth it for you.
I consider myself to be a very approachable and welcoming person, with a sense of humour that is appropriate as well as necessary in these stressful times we are currently living in and I'll do my best to put you at ease at your sessions. You can choose online or face to face sessions.
I hope you find success in your therapy and please see my website for further information.
