Jacky Francis Walker
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
'The World's #1 Burnout Expert'
You seem to be the most experienced therapist ... in the City of London (MR London)
I'm really surprised at how different I feel. Before, I just thought I was an anxious person and could do nothing about it. Now, I realise that the way I think has been causing that anxiety. Thank you! (RH, Norwich)
The difference since our first session last week is incredible. I came with nothing, and left with so much. It's been life changing. (SW, London)
What you offer is unique... Not only skilled at psychotherapy but also in working with the creative process. I had been thinking of working with a writing coach, but I get all that and much more with you... (JK, Norfolk)
I am a leading psychotherapist, mindfulness consultant, executive coach, clinical supervisor and trainer. Regularly featured in Psychologies magazine. I am also a consultant specialist for national and international media such as HuffPost, ThriveGlobal, Authority Magazine, The Telegraph, Evening Standard and BBC News.
I have been in practice since 1993, and have a particular interest in working with high achieving professionals and creative people. My specialist areas include stress, burnout, creativity, quality of life and deeper self connection.
I founded a well-regarded practice in London's Harley Street / Great Portland Street area and the City of London. Since the pandemic, my sessions are held by phone or video (Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp), so I am fully available no matter where you are.
Clients often find me through word of mouth recommendations. I also receive referrals from other health professionals, such as doctors, occupational health professionals and dental surgeons. I am registered with most health insurance policies which may cover the cost of sessions, though clients often self fund.
The combination of skills I offer is unique - I am often referred to as 'The World's #1 Burnout Expert'.
As author of The Burnout Bible (and 'Entertaining An Artist: Vegan. Wheatfree. Handful!', available through my website or major online retailers), I am one of the UK's leading specialists in stress, burn-out and work/life balance. Many people don't know that there's a difference between stress and burnout, or that each needs a very different approach. That's where my specialist know-how comes to the fore, to help you back on your feet in the fastest possible time.
I work from an integrative approach, informed by humanistic and psychodynamic philosophy and mindfulness ways of working, but I draw from the best of other approaches too, such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), depending upon your needs. I am able to vary my style from fairly structured to fairly loose, according to your preference. By working collaboratively we can arrive at the most appropriate working style for you, so please do let me know if you'd like us to adjust anything.
I have been working with mindfulness-based approaches since the early 1990s. My MA thesis examined how mindfulness (in the form of the felt sense) could be found within most schools of psychotherapy and distilled key principles for working with mindfulness within a psychotherapeutic approach. In 2014, I took part in an innovative pilot scheme on Mindfulness and Weight Loss. In 2018, I completed a Certificate in Third Wave CBT, covering contemporary CBT approaches based on the principles of mindfulness.
