About Me

Hello. I am Emma. I am 37 years old and I am a registered mental health nurse and CBT psychotherapist with 10 years of experience of working with individuals to support their mental health. I currently work remotely meaning that the therapy that i offer is available by telephone or video call. I have worked this way since 2020 and have found many effective ways to adapt therapy in order to support this mode of delivery. I have found that it is just as successful (if not sometimes more so) as face to face appointments, as well as being more accessible to more people.

Feedback from my clients over the years has found that I am approachable, human, down to earth, non-judgmental and I pride myself on being able to develop trusting relationships with the people that I work with and support. I feel this is a fundamental aspect to the therapy process. I am trained in Cognitive behavioural therapy treatment (CBT) which explores an individuals thoughts, feelings and behaviours in any given situation to identify any unhelpful patterns. As part of the treatment I would then support you to make changes to these elements (and offer tools to support this), in order to change and reduce the impact of these unhelpful cycles, generating new, more helpful ways of thinking, feeling and behaving, allowing you to reach your identified goals. I am passionate about being a cheerleader for my clients, encouraging development, learning and change where you are ready and able to. I am also keen to allow space for you to explore issues more deeply and freely where this is appropriate and necessary to.

The key areas that I work with are difficulties where CBT is evidence based as being an effective treatment. This includes, but is not limited to, the following - depression/low mood, health anxiety, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, panic disorder, OCD, PTSD and low self esteem.

If you think that I (and CBT) might be the right fit for you, please feel free to reach out and contact me to discuss this further.
