Claire Dyson
Integrative counsellorAbout Me
I help you get the most from relationships be it your relationship with yourself, your relationship with others, your relationship with your partner or your relationship with food.
I offer a non-judgemental breathing space in which you stop the World and, with no one making demands on you, reflect, pinpoint what is really troubling you, get to the root cause then choose what, if anything, you want to do about it.
I'm an “integrative-relational counsellor” meaning once we've met, I make a blend of therapies e.g. CBT, person-centred, humanistic, psychodynamic, mindfulness, to suit you rather than shove everyone through the same old sheep dip regardless of preferences or needs.
I can help individuals with issues like anxiety, depression, anger, overwhelm, stress, low self-esteem and loss.
I work with couples on their relationship where the same “Groundhog Day” discussion or disagreement keeps coming up, escalating into a row and spoiling an otherwise good relationship. Give me a call if you want to stop those eye rolling “here we go again” moments yet you both seem powerless to get out of this hurtful, destructive cycle by yourselves.
I am also thoroughly trained to work with those seeking freedom from emotional eating i.e. people who tend to turn to food rather than to people for support. This manifests as baffling bouts of over-eating which feel addictive, compulsive even, and which you seem powerless to stop (aka comfort eating, bingeing or binge eating).
Here is a client describing what working with me was like:
"Claire is a generous empathetic and trustworthy counsellor who gently took me through the process. She was hugely supportive when I got very emotional and made me feel very relaxed with her".
In terms of credentials I am fully qualified to degree level and BACP accredited (a quality standard) and registered.
