Rosemary Ferguson's Juice Book
Many of us will remember Rosemary Ferguson as a British model who first broke through in the early 1990s, along with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.
But rather than keep up the international whirl, she opted for a quieter life in the Cotswolds with artist husband Jake Chapman, three children and various animals. More recently she has trained as a BANT-registered nutritional therapist and homeopath.
"I am truly passionate about healthy eating, but I’m definitely not evangelical," she says. "Small changes can make big differences to your feeling of wellbeing and energy levels. I grew up surrounded by complementary medicine, in a family of homeopaths and kinesiologists. My grandmother owned one of the first health food shops in the country, inspiring a general awareness of alternative therapies in my family".
Rosemary has a practice in Harley Street and also see clients in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. But her new book Juice offers anyone the chance to try eating her way, focusing on full-strength fruit and vegetables, to boost immunity and give a general feeling of wellness. Here is an extract from the book, which is out now:
This smoothie will get you out the door. Blood sugar is often a problem after a night out, which is why we tend to opt for a sugary snack. This smoothie is a more substantial solution because of its natural sugars and fats. The avocado is in a class of its own. It has an unusually high number of benefits, including good fats to help your body recover. With all the antioxidants that are in spinach and lime, along with the resveratrol in the grapes, you'll be feeling fresh as a daisy!
Chop all the ingredients into manageable sizes for your blender. Using a citrus press or just your hands, squeeze the lime in the blender and whizz it up with all the other ingredients.
